Note:   ‘Do’  forms are used to make  Negative sentences and Questions in Simple Present & Simple Past Tenses only. All ‘do forms’ take only V1 after them.‘done’ is V3 ( past participle) , not a helping verb.

  •  Play  (V1)    =    do + play  ( we expand V1 into  ‘do+ play’ in questions & ‘do+not+play’ in negative sentence )
  •   Plays ( S-form) =    does + play   
  •   Played  ( V2)      =    did + play 
·   We can also use ‘do forms’ even in Positive sentences to emphasize an action:
Ex :  Please do attend the party.
        He does come regularly.
        I did attend the class yesterday.
