Please find the Model Question papers of Unit Tests and Final Examination of ENGLISH-First Year C16-101, common to all Engineering Diploma branches in Andhra Pradesh. The book / material is the same for C16 & C14 Curriculum. However, there is a slight change in weightage and pattern of questions in view of emphasis on Vocabulary. ( Blue Print ) C-16-English-101 - Unit Test-II
Guidelines / Blue Print to frame End exam question paper
In life, we have essentially two psychological modes that we are in most of the time: reactive and responsive. The reactive mode is the one that feels stressful. In it, we feel pressured and are quick to judge. We lose perspective and take things personally. We're annoyed, bothered, and frustrated. Needless to say, our judgment and decision making capacity is severely impaired when we are in a reactive state of mind. We make quick decisions that we often regret. We annoy other people and tend to bring out the worst in them. When an opportunity knocks, we are usually too overwhelmed or frustrated to see it. If we do see it, we're usually overly critical and negative.
C16-COMMON-101-ENGLISH-
Weightage for Unit Tests, Blue Prints
& Model
Question papers
Note : The Text book
for I year English in C-16 curriculum ( Common to all Engineering branches) is
the same one that was used in C-14 Curriculum. However, it is proposed to
modify the Unit Test and End exam Question papers slightly by giving due
weightage to all the topics. A special emphasis is given to enrich vocabulary
of the students by introducing a Long Answer question. Students are expected to
learn as many words as they can from all the possible lessons and use them in their
expressions.
While setting question
papers:
·
It is highly desired that the questions should
be clear, specific without any ambiguity and should not miss the focus from the
objective.
·
There should be no repetition of the questions
and should be adhered to the given weightage.
·
If the
topic or objective is present in both Short and Long Answer questions as per
weightage, see that the way of asking questions and sub topics are different.
·
The format of asking Short answer questions may
be filling in the blanks, giving substitute, rewrite, convert, using expression
related to a situation…etc. It could be a short note if it is based on writing
skill.
·
Every question should have the instructions that
are precise and clear.
·
The marks should be allotted to the right words/phrases/expressions
for the Short Answer questions.
·
The marks for Long Answer questions may be
allotted for content, relevant expressions, grammatical accuracy and skill of writing
a Paragraph / Report/ Letter / Resume. ..etc
·
Try to frame the questions of different grades
based on their difficulty level like easy, moderate, difficult. Frame suitable
questions for Short/Long answer questions based on the scope, length, number of
sub points of that answer.
·
Guide lines/A blue print is given for framing
each Unit Test and End exam Question paper to maintain accuracy and uniformity.

reasons. Rapid raise in the population and steep rise in the number of vehicles

the traffic rules of the public makes the problem more critical. Traffic sense
should be cultivated by the public and other road users. Traffic signals should
be seriously viewed. Offenders should not be spared. Pedestrians should be
encouraged to use footpaths and zebra lines for crossing the roads. All these
measures would help ease the traffic problem. Road safety would then be a
reality.
i)
What is the problem and what makes it more critical?
ii) What should road users cultivate?
iii) What is the purpose of Zebra lines?
iv) Give
the synonym for the following word:
' pedestrians'

the cod and hali can be given to sick children.
Vegetable oil has been known
from very long time. No household can go on without it, for it is used in
cooking. Perfumes may be made from the oils of certain flowers. Soaps are made
from vegetable and animal oils.
Another kind of oil is
mineral oil. This oil that drives tanks,
aero planes and warships, motorcars and diesel locomotives. This is the oil
that has changed the life of the common man. This kind of oil comes out of the
earth. It burns well and so it is used
as fuel. Many big ships now use oil instead of coal. Many homes are still
illuminated with oil burning lamps.

Grammar may be defined as a
system of rules for the use of language or as a study of what is preferred and
what is to be avoided in effective speech and writing. We all speak and write,
whether or not we are able to state rules governing the words we use. To be
effective, we must achieve clarity of expression. We need to know how to
present ideas forcefully without confusion or unnecessary words, by choosing
language suited to our purpose. In order to use English correctly and
gracefully, it is necessary to recognize and to practice using good grammar.
Listening to speakers who are accustomed to speaking grammatically, helps to
train the ear to correct usage. Simple,
idiomatic English is desirable for both writing and speaking, but it requires
some effort from language users.
i) How is grammar defined?
ii) How should we present our
ideas?
iii) How can one inculcate correct usage?
iv) What is required in writing and
speaking?
v) Give the noun forms for the following verbs :
a) state b) use
